THIS was the scene after a car rammed into a parked vehicle at high speed in Kilbirnie last night.

The car was then driven away - leaving its bumper behind - before police officers could arrive at the scene in Holehouse Drive.

And the vehicle was later found on fire in Beith around 3.40am this morning (June 29).

The parked car also suffered extensive damage in the crash.

Police are now investigating the incident and have appealed for witnesses.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Herald: “We were made aware of a collision between a car and a parked car on Holehouse Drive in Kilbirnie around 11.45pm on Wednesday, June 28.

“The car was subsequently driven away before officers arrived.

“The vehicle believed to have been involved in the collision was subsequently found on fire in the Mains Avenue area of Beith around 3.40am on Thursday, June 29.

“No one has presented as being injured following the incident but enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 4778 of June 28.”
