THERE are some spectacular raffle prizes on offer as an Ayrshire fire station looks to do their bit to help local kid, Calum Rae.

The four-year-old was diagnosed with stage M high-risk neuroblastoma earlier this year.

His family has launched a fundraiser in the hope of attracting donations to take them to the £250,000 they need to travel to the United States for a potentially life-saving vaccination.

Calum lives in Troon with his mum Victoria McDonald, who is originally from Dalry, and works as a teacher at West Kilbride Primary School, and dad Andrew Rae.

Communities across Ayrshire have rallied around the cause since it was launched, with the fundraiser (available at tinyurl.com/CalumRae) currently sitting at just over £181,000.

Now, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service staff and volunteers are looking to their bit at Kilwinning community fire station.

They will be doing so at their family open day which is to take place on Sunday, July 2, at the station on Stevenston Road.

Beginning at 10.30am and running until 2.30pm, the free to attend event is fun for the whole family.

Any donations made at the event will be put towards helping young Calum and his fundraising efforts.

Those in attendance will be able to meet the crews, enjoy a bouncy castle, get tattoos, have their face painted, eat cake, drink juice, browse stalls and take part in a number of games.

And while the event is free, in an extra effort to raise funds, a raffle with some amazing prizes is also being organised.

Raffle tickets cost £5, or you can buy three numbers for £10.

Tickets are available on the day, or you can contact organisers Martin Henry and Andy Hales directly or at the fire station to purchase before hand.
