PEOPLE attending a top golf tournament in Irvine this summer will be able to enjoy a tipple.

Yvonne Henderson appeared before the North Ayrshire licensing committee on Monday to present the club’s application for an occasional licence at the Women’s Scottish Open, which is being staged at Dundonald Links from Wednesday, August 2 until  Monday, August 7.

Alcohol will be sold from the trucks or mobile bars which will be located at the back of the clubhouse overlooking the ninth and 18th greens.

The drinking area will be mapped out in a red defined area from the side of the clubhouse up to the practice area.

At the crossing and security points there will be marshalls and stewards ensuring alcohol is kept within the restricted area.

Dundonald Links has become a regular host at the top competition.

Licensing chair Eleanor Collier said the application would be considered by the clerk next year subject to there being no complaints to save an annual visit to the board.
