A KILBIRNIE restaurant has led tributes after the death of one of their staff members.

Sandra Miller had been part of the team at Anaya's in the town since the day after it opened.

And it was "with a heavy heart" that the team from the restaurant paid tribute to her earlier this week after hearing of her passing.

They described Sandra as "part of our family" and spoke of how she would go "above and beyond" for everyone.

Their statement on social media said: "It is with a heavy heart that we write this post. One of our staff member has sadly passed away.

"Sandra was not only a part of the team at Anaya's but she was a part of our family. Sandra has been with us since the second day of opening of Anaya's.

"She went above and beyond for every single member of our team. She will be sorely missed.

"We send our deepest condolences to her family."

The news also came as a shock to the community, with many residents who knew her adding to the tributes.

One said: "So sorry to hear this sad news. I had some lovely chats with Sandra and she was always so friendly. Thinking of all her family and colleagues at this sad time."

Another added: "Totally shocked. Sandra did so many good turns for people - she had a heart of gold."
