Here’s a blast from the past: a selection of photos from the Ardrossan Herald 25 years ago – July 1998 – all in glorious black and white.
Back then, the Herald still hadn’t brought in full colour photos. That would follow within a year or two.

Kilmarnock fans saluted skipper Ray Montgomerie at his testimonial match against Premier Division champs Celtic. Saltcoats man Monty, who lifted the Scottish Cup a year earlier, was entering his 11th year as a Killie player – and was joined on the pitch by his children Raymond, Jenna and Matthew.
Parents and teachers from Ardeer Primary School in Stevenston joined the Race for Life, helping to raise much needed cash for the Imperial Cancer Research Fund.
Meet the youngsters who graduated from Dalry Nursery in 1988. They were all looking forward to going to the ‘big school’.
