A GLENGARNOCK man has been locked up after his dog bit a woman in Beith.

Barian Ali Rashid pleaded guilty to four charges relating to two incidents in the Garnock Valley area just a few days apart earlier this year.

The 28-year-old admitted being the owner of a dog which was dangerously out of control and bit a woman on the body in the Burnside Street area of Beith on June 6.

He also pleaded guilty to a charge of acting in a threatening or abusive manner which was likely to cause fear or alarm by shouting, swearing and acting in an aggressive manner.

Rashid, whose address was described in court papers as the Glengarnock Car Wash, also pleaded guilty to two charges relating to a separate incident on June 9.

He admitted wilfully destroying or damaging property by smashing the tail lights, wing mirrors and windows of a motor vehicle at The Old Lace Works on Main Road, Glengarnock, and being in possession of an offensive weapon at the same location without reasonable excuse or lawful authority.

When he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week, Rashid was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced at a later date.
