Teen weightlifter Freddy Caldwell jetted off to Germany to represent Britain in the European Under-17 School Championships. The 14-year-old, who trains with Kilwinning Weightlifting Club, left for Dortmund after being chosen to represent his country from young lifters from all over the UK.

Some well known faces arrived in Dalry for the St Palladius charity garden party.

Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald: Three Towns pub teams launched a weight loss challenge in 2003

Five pub teams from the Three Towns signed up for a weight loss challenge aimed at raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
