Ardrossan: Property boss moves his firm into iconic building

With the investment of quarter of a million pounds, sympathetic changes are already well underway. 

And in a generous move, Craig has offered four hours of free office space a month for up to 10 local charities and community partners in the revitalised building.

The building will be home to a number of Craig’s businesses and additional space on the ground floor marketed as office suites for hire, long and short term.

Two meeting spaces have already been created on the first floor which are available from as little as one hour. 

Ayrshire-born Craig leased part of the building after Covid hit his global business travel agency, Key Reservations. 

He said: "We had to close our Glasgow offices during Covid as our industry was decimated by travel bans and work from home.

“As we remerged from Covid we had to look for a new home and we saw this as an opportunity to get back in an office and start to recruit new staff.

“When the previous owners said they wanted to sell we jumped at the opportunity.”

An initial 10 groups will receive four hours of free space every month for a full year.

Mr Perkins said “This is a great opportunity for us to bring all of our businesses under one roof but we want to be able to support the community.

"We now live in a world where PTAs have to hire space in a school for a PTA meeting so there is a need for businesses to step up and support the community.”

Having already created eight new jobs within the building, the plan for expansion is to create at least double that number within his own enterprises and hopefully double again with his available rented space.

Plans for the building include a full new coat of paint to protect the sandstone and multiple contracts have already been signed with a number Ayrshire business for support services for the building.
