Zain's Curry House in Dalry has won the Best Takeaway of the Year title at the prestigious Food Awards Scotland - for the second year running.

And delighted owner Khurum Jabbar has hailed his staff members and customers for the amazing result.

Zain's has been a mainstay in Dalry for 23 years and - particularly since last year's victory - has been attracting customers from all over the west of Scotland to its New Street premises.

Khurum said: "I have a great team behind me, the boys and girls, the front of house team and the drivers all do an amazing job - hats off to them.

"They work hard and they all feel really good about what we have achieved.

"And we have amazing customers too. People are coming from all over the country to try our food. A lot of them said they didn't even know where Dalry was until they read about our success.

"It is a good achievement for the local community. And it is getting better and better every day.

"Just yesterday we found out that were are in the finals of the Scottish Takeaway Awards as well this year."

Khurum added: "The Food Awards Scotland win is quite a big one for us. To win it two years in a row is a great achievement. I can't really put it into words what it means...

"It is an amazing achievement by all the people who put in the graft.

"And I have to say thanks to our customers for all their support and love over so many years. It means such a lot to our business."

There was one man in particular Khurum singled out for praise - his dad Abdul, who just happens to be the Zain's chef.

He said: "I have to give a big thank you to my family - especially my dad, who has been the rock in this business for so many years.

"He is the main chef  and works seven days a week. He must be doing something right with the food."

Congratulations to the Zain's team from all at the Herald.
