THE Post Office says it wants to hear what customers think after the opening hours of its new branch in Kilwinning were revealed.

As we reported in August, the new facility will open to the public on Tuesday, November 14.

The new opening hours for the branch - at Seymour Discounts, at number 36 Main Street - have now been published.

The Post Office says it now wants to know what customers think of the facility and its opening hours - although the deadline for sharing public feedback is October 18, almost a month before Kilwinning residents will get the chance to see what the new service has to offer.

The town has been without Post Office facilities on the street since the beginning of this year when the old branch closed at RS McColls.

Since then, the nearest alternative Post Office facility has been the one on Sundrum Place in Pennyburn.

The new facility - run by the same team which used to own Seymour Store and Takeaway in the Dirrans area - will feature a Post Office counter alongside the retail counter.

It will open for the first time on Tuesday, November 14 at 1pm.

Apart from that  very first day, the branch will be open for business from 9am-5.30pm Monday to Friday and from 9am-1pm on Saturdays.

That means Post Office service will be available to local residents and businesses for 46 hours a week from the new facility.

Scott Hamilton, Post Office's network provision manager, said: “We are delighted to soon be restoring a Post Office to this area as we know how important a post office is to a community.

"The branch’s opening hours will make it convenient for customers to visit."

The Post Office says it's still keen to hear what customers think of the new branch, and is encouraging people to share their views.

The opportunity to give feedback will close on October 18.

Customers can share their views during the consultation online at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 218843.
