Auchenharvie Academy sisters Nadine and Danielle Joyce were both awarded gold medals at the 2008 Ayrshire Schools Swimming competition. Nadine, a fourth year pupil, and Danielle, a first year pupil, both trained extremely hard for the event.

Kilwinning Fire Station held a Design A Poster competition as part of a community safety awareness campaign aimed at reducing the number of hoax calls and making children aware of the dangers on the run up to bonfire night. The winners of the competition, Emily Dean (10) from Blacklands Primary and Emily Marno (8) and Megan Mitchell (10) both of Corsehill Primary, are pictured above.
Members of the Dalry Burns Club celebrated their Centenary year in 2008 with an open evening in the town’s Turf Inn.
The ladies at Ardrossan Indoor Bowling Club raised a fantastic £275 for Breast Cancer Research in 2008 as they turned up for a game beautifully decked out in pink.
Talented Kilwinning hairdresser Charlene Grant won a clutch of awards at the 2008 Scottish hairdressing championship. She won the title of best Scottish gents hairdresser and picked up a swanky trophy for her efforts.
