THE organiser of a Crosshouse kids charity appeal has enjoyed a welcome boost this week.

Kind-hearted Kilwinning man Michael Kirkum has been running his appeal for Christmas donations for kids at the Kilmarnock hospital for 11-years now.

However, this year he has revealed that his charitable efforts face enormous challenges due to the rising cost of living.

His collection for the children's ward at Crosshouse requires help from the community as he looks to obtain selections boxes, colouring books and crayons, soft toys, board games, baby toys and story books for under fives to hand over.

Given the ongoing challenges, a generous donation from a business in Ardrossan has gone a long way in supporting Michael's cause.

The Kilwinning dad was in Ardrossan on Friday, November 3, as the team from the town's Harbourside Takeaway handed over a remarkable donation of £300 to his appeal.

Michael thanked the business owners - who only took over the popular food spot in recent months - for helping drive towards his goal for the appeal to help its 20,000th child this year.
