A STEVENSTON based community group were given a welcome boost thanks to National Lottery grant funding.
The Cronies Social Club of the town and surrounding district were awarded £6,073 in the lottery's recent community grant funding awards.
The vital funds will support the group in a number of ways, ensuring the vital service they provide can continue.
The Cronies is comprised of around 40 members who meet on a weekly basis to "heat, eat and enjoy each others company".
The group has proved vital to a number of members who feel the meetings are a safe place surrounded by like minded people.
While Cronies meetings typically offer a welcome escape from day to day life, fellow members have also helped support those within the group who have encountered issues and they help to find a resolution.
The social club "a great part of community history" and can officially be dated back to 1951 - though it is believed to have been running since before the second World War.
The National Lottery grant funding will help support the group to continue for years to come - covering the cost of equipment for their activities, social events, and outings.
The group were delighted as they celebrated the award earlier this week.
