ARDROSSAN'S Scout Group have been given a £1,000 boost by Cunninghame Housing Association.

The funding will cover the cost of new tables and chairs for the group, as their current equipment was very worn and needed replaced.

The big cheque was recently presented by Janet Strang, chair of Cunninghame Housing Association to David Howie, the Scout group leader.

Ms Strang said:  “We are pleased to support the local Scouting group of Ardrossan, providing all users, young and old with much needed new equipment.

"This group has provided many in the Three Towns and beyond with a welcome, safe and warm environment with the opportunity to learn."

The funding came from the housing association's Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund, which operates throughout the year (April 1 to March 31) until the allocated funding is exhausted.

The Ardrossan Scout Group has been going for more than 100 years and has four age group sections - Beavers (six to eight years); Cubs (8-10 years); Scouts (10 to 14) and Three Towns Explorer Scouts (14-18 years), who all meet on a weekly basis.

To enable all Scout sections to flourish, adult volunteers are needed.

By volunteering as an assistant, leader or a trustee, they equip you with personal development opportunities and skills for the future to help make a positive impact on the lives of young people.

If you would like to volunteer, you can get in touch by visiting https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteer/volunteering-with-scouts/ or visit the Ardrossan Scout Group Facebook page.
