AN IRVINE thug tried to run another man down after attacking him with a baseball bat in Kilwinning.

Jamie Stevens, 29, pled guilty to a pair of charges in relation to the attack when he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.

The incident took place on May 8 of last year at the Whitehirst Park roundabout in Kilwinning.

Court papers describe how Stevens, of Muirfield Court in Irvine, assaulted another man, who was repeatedly struck on the body with a baseball bat to his severe injury.

Thereafter, Stevens drove a motor vehicle towards the victim, mounting the kerb and driving over grass in an attempt to strike him with said vehicle.

Stevens also pled guilty to one further offence that took place more than two months after the initial incident.

The Irvine man admitted failing to give police information about the registered keeper of the vehicle.

Following his admissions, Stevens' case was adjourned and he will return to court in the new year for sentencing.

He has been granted bail until this time.
