ScotRail has confirmed that some train services are to return in Ayrshire.

On Sunday, January 21, Network Rail suspended all services across the country at 7pm due to safety reasons concerning Storm Isha.

Today, (Monday, January 22) has seen full line inspections carried out across Scotland, with any damage found and repaired before rail services can return.

While trains are still unable to run on most routes, ScotRail has now announced the reinstatement of a limited number of services.

This includes services beginning once again between Glasgow and Ayrshire on the route between the city and Largs.

The service is due to recommence with a 12.45pm journey from the city to Largs, with the first train heading in the opposite direction leaving Largs at 1.07pm.

At present, services on all other Ayrshire lines remain cancelled.

Despite the reinstatement of this service, ScotRail has urged customers to keep a close eye on their app for the latest service information.
