Ferry sailings from Arran have been diverted to Gourock today due to weather conditions - with a number of service cancellations confirmed.

CalMac diverted to 1.55pm sailing from Brodick to Ardrossan to the Renfrewshire port.

The boat was due to arrive in Gourock at 4.30pm.

The delayed 3.20pm sailing was set to depart from Gourock at 5pm, arriving in Brodick at 7.30pm.

A bus for foot passengers departed for Gourock from Ardrossan at 3.20pm and is set to collect arriving passengers at 4.30pm for the return trip to Ardrossan.

As a result of this diversion, the following sailings are cancelled: Depart Ardrossan 6pm and depart Brodick 4.40pm.

The departure from Brodick at 7.20pm this evening is also cancelled.

Tomorrow (Saturday, January 27), the 7am sailing from Ardrossan has been cancelled as a result of the vessel berthing in Brodick overnight.

A spokesperson for CalMac warned: "Services remain liable to disruption or cancellations at short notice due to weather conditions.

"Disrupting a sailing is a decision we do not take lightly because we know it will inconvenience our customers and the communities we serve. However, the safety of our customers and crew must come first.

"In this instance, the Master of the vessel has judged it is necessary in response to the assessment of adverse weather conditions."
