A Saltcoats man has been banned from driving after mounting pavements and driving at speed on an unregistered quad bike.

David Drysdale accelerated sharply away from the scene in a bid to get away from police.

Drysdale pleaded guilty at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court to driving without due care and attention on Old Raise Road and other roads in Stevenston and Saltcoats.

The 30-year-old, of Old Raise Road, pleaded guilty to three charges, including driving with no insurance and no valid licence, after the incident on March 25, 2023.

The charge stated that he "did drive an unregistered quad bike without due care and attention, in that you did drive said quad bike on footpaths and within parks at speed, caused said quad bike to mount a pavement, and accelerated harshly in an attempt to evade police officers".

Drysdale was fined £515 and banned from holding or obtaining a licence for nine months.
