Proposals for a glamping site on Arran have been withdrawn following objections.

Glampitect had submitted plans to North Ayrshire Council for the Corrie Doon Arran Pods at Northern Heights near Kildonan on the island.

The site would have consisted of three glamping pods for overnight guest use, with decking, a barrel sauna, storage shed, footpaths and parking area.

Planning documents stated the site would have provided "subtle and discreet countryside holiday accommodation for tourists".

Two part-time roles would have been created for site cleaning and maintenance.

However, nine objections to the plans were lodged by islanders, who said the site was "inappropriate in a residential area".

One objector stated: "The provision of the three holiday units will produce an unacceptable level of noise for a quiet residential neighbourhood.

"This will particularly be the case in fine weather when visitors use the outside areas for barbecues etc.

"The hot tub is of particular concern as it will encourage excessive noise well into the night."

The application was withdrawn on January 30.
