Labour candidate for Central Ayrshire Alan Gemmell was joined by MSP Paul O’Kane at the launch of Labour’s New Deal for Working People in Irvine on Saturday.

Along with the Labour team of volunteers, they hit the campaign trail to hand out leaflets and chat to local people outside the Townhouse about the party's plans.

Alan said: "With Labour you will get a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work.

"We will ban zero hours contracts, end fire and rehire, strengthen sick pay and extend to low paid workers and guarantee stronger properly enforced rights at work.

"We will repeal the Tory anti trade union law and ensure the minimum wage is at last a real living wage that people can live on."

Paul O’Kane, Labour's Shadow Minister for Social Justice, Social Security and Equalities, added: "We are pledged to grow our economy, tackle the cost of living, raise living standards and deliver the secure high paid jobs of the future.

"Our Green Prosperity Plan will help realise our huge renewables potential and create up to 50,000 clean power jobs over the next decade."
