A TWO Doors Down star from Three Towns is among those who paid tribute to the founder of Ultra Sonic after his death.

We previously reported that Mallorca Lee, a former pupil of Auchenharvie Academy, passed away on Sunday afternoon, aged 51.

We told last month that the musician announced he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Following the heartbreaking news, tributes have flocked in for the much-loved DJ.

Lee founded the techno group Ultra-Sonic in Ayrshire in 1991, which has built up a loyal following in the rave scene.

The group were known for their hits Obsession, Love Me Right and Angels.

He left the band in 2003 to focus on his solo career as a DJ and producer.

Ultra Sonic's most recent single, Hardcore Will Never Die, was released in 2020.

Two Doors Down star, Grado, rom Stevenston, who plays Alan in the BBC series, shared a picture with the music legend on his Instagram.

In the post, the actor said: "So heartbreaking beyond belief, life is so cruel.

"Sending love to all the family.

"Stevenston has lost an icon. Rest easy Mallorca."

Meanwhile, GBX star George Bowie also posted a touching tribute to the star.

Taking to social media, the radio presenter said: "Absolutely devastated by the news of Mall’s passing.

"We had so many good times at gigs all over the country over the past 30 years. Should have been preparing for the Festivals we had lined up this summer.

"A true legend and pioneer of dance music in Scotland taken way too soon.

"All our thoughts are with his family right now. Heartbreaking, truly heartbreaking."

DJ Dave Pearce also paid tribute, saying: "Sad to learn of the passing Of Mallorca Lee - taken far too young. Thoughts with family and friends. RIP."

Scores of fans also paid tribute to the music icon after the tragic news.

DJ KID broke the sad news to fans about the legend's passing on social media.

He wrote: "It is with tremendous sadness that I announce the sad passing on Sunday afternoon of legendary Scottish DJ, producer and long-time friend Mallorca Lee, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer just 4 weeks ago. He was 51.

"During this incredibly upsetting time, my deepest sympathy goes out to Maria Mallorca's wife his children Angel and Oceano and his extended family and friends.

"You will be deeply missed, brother, but your energy and legacy will live on."
