A MAN has died following a report of an assault at a property in Saltcoats over the weekend.
Police were called to the incident on the town's New England Road on Sunday, February 4.
Officers say that they were responding to reports of an assault at this time.
A 36-year-old man was taken to hospital following the alleged incident, and police say he died on Tuesday.
The death is currently being treated as "unexplained" and Police Scotland say an investigation is now underway following the incident.
A force spokesperson said: "Officers are investigating the death of a man following a report of an assault on New England Road, Saltcoats on Sunday, February 4.
“The 36-year-old man died in hospital on Tuesday, February 6.
“His death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.”
