An Ardrossan man has been ordered to carry out unpaid work after assaulting a woman and child in the town last year.
Derek Paterson, 39, pleaded guilty to two charges of assaulting the woman and minor at his home in the town on September 21.
The charges stated that he seized hold of the woman's body and forced her wrists backwards, before pushing the minor and causing them to strike a cupboard.
At a brief hearing at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, Paterson was placed on a community payback order with 18 months of social work supervision and was ordered to do 160 hours of unpaid work.
