North Parish Church Explorers took second place in the 2004 Action Songs competition against seven other companies from North Ayrshire at St Kentigern’s Church in Kilmarnock.

Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald: Crime

Newspaper delivery boys and girls working in West Kilbride were issued with panic alarms in February 2004 as police continued their hunt for a knife-wielding thug who terrorised a 14-year-old.

PCs Alan Rintoul and Gregg Banks, with John Lamb of Largs Crime Prevention Panel, are pictured handing over personal alarms to Alice Bruce of Seamill Stores to distribute to the delivery kids.

Eleanor and Alan Maitland of Gateside were quickly making their name in the sport of ice hockey in 2004. Both had been capped several times for their country.

Musicians involved in the innovative Caley Youth Centre music project in the Three Towns featured in the Herald's pages.

Aimed at aspiring bands and musicians the project hoped to encourage, develop and promote music created by young adults.

Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald: Donohoe

Special Constable Brian Donohoe made his first arrest while patrolling London’s Underground.

The Cunninghame South MP had graduated from the Parliamentary Police Scheme the previous year and helped arrest two men who were abusing station staff.

Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald: West Kilbride Primary pupils took part in Scottish Opera's production of The Minotaur

Children at West Kilbride PS performed in Scottish Opera’s production of The Minotaur as part an exciting 2004 initiative involving more than 10,000 primary and secondary school youngsters throughout Scotland.
