A MAN has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of Alan Lawson.

Alan, 36, from Saltcoats, is believed to have been brutally assaulted at a property in Alexander Avenue, Largs, on Saturday, February 3.

He was then left for dead at his home in New England Road, Saltcoats, the following day, and died from his injuries in hospital two days later.

It has been claimed that Alan's killer held him hostage and subjected him to a shocking attack - some of which was filmed and uploaded to instant messaging app Snapchat.

Police announced on Tuesday morning that an arrest has now been made in connection with Alan's death.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged and is due to appear in Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of Alan Lawson (36) from Saltcoats.

"Mr Lawson died in hospital on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 following an assault at a property on Alexander Avenue, Largs, over the weekend of Saturday, February 3.

"The 29-year-old man is due at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, February 20, and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal."
