AN ARDROSSAN DJ who has played sets in front of thousands across the country says that being able to play at the Metro may be his biggest gig to date.

Nathan Devlin is set to play at the iconic Saltcoats nightclub on Saturday, February 24, back-to-back with close friend and fellow artist Craig McCulloch.

The night will be the first completely organised by the new Metro owners Stevie Miller and Gary Burns and Nathan said he is "honoured" to be given the opportunity.

He hopes both he and Craig can provide a great night of entertainment, playing a a plethora of styles as they look to get the crowd going.

Nathan said: “We’re going to explore a bit of everything, there will be some harder stuff towards the end. I think the crowd are going to want it so I need to do it.

“My style of DJing has changed since playing in clubs, I’ve become too commercialised but I’m excited to be back in a proper club that’s not going to be like a jukebox all night.

“It’s going to be real club music – it’s going to be fun.”

And the 28-year-old has given a lot of credit to the club owners for allowing a night like this to be organised.

He added: “We’ve got a lot of creative freedom and we’re getting well looked after, they’re very keen to ensure all their staff and DJs feel welcomed and are catered for at all times.

“It’s really nice to see that. Gary and Stevie have just nailed it – their attitude towards the place and the people is second to none, it’s made me even more excited to play.”

While Nathan, and many others, were hoping the nightclub would have opened before now - he said delayed opening of the Metro has helped build anticipation.

He said: “As much as we would have wanted the place open before now, the stress of the delays has made it even more rewarding that it’s finally happened.

“It’s built even more anticipation, like how special is it going to be when I actually play – 500 people going nuts, it’s going to be phenomenal.”

And Nathan, who has played at largescale events such as Hardstyle Superheroes and Coloursfest, says it will be up their with his proudest moments when he takes to the stage from 9pm on Saturday.

He continued: “There’s so many feelings of emotion, it’s an honour to be doing it.

“We didn’t really get the Metro growing up, the best we maybe got was an unders' party in first or second year at school.

“Anybody from my parents generation, from Ayrshire or even well further afield, if you mention the Metro to them their eyes widen.

“Hearing all the stories and seeing all the video from then – the fact that legacy is coming back, to be part of that is pretty cool.

“I’ve done some pretty cool things in my time so far but this is phenomenal, it’s such a privilege.”
