THE Saltcoats Christmas Carnival group are looking to revive the event this year.

The new committee are set to meet next month as they set out their plans to bring back the popular festive celebration in 2024.

The carnival was cancelled last year, much to the disappointment of many locals.

Organisers of the hugely popular event, which acts as the Saltcoats 'Christmas lights switch-on', opted to step aside this year due to the constraints placed upon them by other commitments.

Efforts were made to form a new committee so that the event could continue, but it was to no avail in time for the festive period last year.

But now plans are being put in place well ahead of time to ensure the Christmas spirit remains well and truly alive in Saltcoats.

Santa has already been in touch to let the people of Saltcoats know that he intends to return to the town on Sunday, November 24 - and he is asking for helpers to join his Saltcoats team.

A new committee has been put in place, but they say at least four volunteers still needed to lend a hand.

Those interested in supporting the plans are now being invited to an information evening where they can find out exactly how they can play their part.

This will be taking place on Monday, March 25, at the Melbourne Cafe from 4-6pm.

Those who are unable to attend but still wish to help out can contact the committee for more information on saltcoatschristmascarnival@gmail.com.
