Kilbirnie residents can find out all about the ancient process of turning flax into linen at an event later this month.

Alice Young will present 'Flax to Linen' in Kilbirnie Library on Thursday, March 28 from 11.30am to 12.30pm.

She will demonstrate breaking, carding and spinning flax fibre to produce linen cloth - in the was fishing nets used to be made at the mill.

The event, by Stoneyholm Mill Trust, which is trying to regenerate the 19th century Kilbirnie cotton mill, has been funded by North Ayrshire Council's Arts and Culture Participatory Budgeting Fund, is free for all to attend.
