DETAILS of how council officials plan to spent more than £6 million maintaining and improving North Ayrshire's roads have been revealed.

Members of North Ayrshire Council's cabinet will be asked to rubber-stamp a long list of proposed works for the new financial year when they meet next wee.

As well as nearly £5m on works on roads themselves, the council plans to spent around £1m on street lighting and £585,000 on bridges.

Cabinet members will be asked to approve a total spend of £5.76 million on mainland projects, with a further £565,000 earmarked for roads on Arran.

The programme also includes additional works set to be carried out after councillors backed a plan to spend an additional £750,000 on roads improvements at last month's budget meeting.
