THE Ayrshire man leading a donation drive to provide Easter eggs to children spending the holiday in hospital has thanked a local gym for making a donation.

Michael Kirkum was extremely thankful for the huge donation provided by the team at Energyze personal training in Kilwinning.

The contribution was all the more welcome as Michael said this year's annual donation drive has faced its "hardest year yet".

It has been a challenging few months as Kilwinning man Michael set his sights on putting a smile on the faces of sick kids at Crosshouse Hospital.

Though thanks to kind-hearted groups and people from across the county Michael is once again preparing for a massive handover.

Donations like the 228 eggs handed over by Energyze have gone a long way in supporting him in his 12th year of the appeal and Michael remains incredibly thankful for the support.

He said: "This year it’s been so tough but with the community spirit not wanting to let the kids down I’m pleased with how everything has gone.

"A big thank you goes to Lynne Stevenston, Billy's Barbers, the Albion Bar, Lyle Porter, Neil Brothers garage, Energyze Gym, Booth Welsh, Gallagher Insurance, On Fire for Driving and to all those that make this possible.

"Each year, without your donations, this would not be possible."
