CalMac have reinstated tonight's late ferry service from Brodick after the weather improved.

The ferry company had earlier said strong winds would mean the cancellation of the 7.20pm sailing from Arran as the ferry would have to remain in Brodick overnight.

The early sailing from Ardrossan had also been cancelled as a result.

But CalMac confirmed this afternoon: "As a result of slight improvements in the overnight weather forecast, the 7.20pm sailing from Brodick is now reinstated. The 7am sailing from Ardrossan on Tuesday is also reinstated."

But it wasn't all good news, as the company added: "On Tuesday, March 26, due to deteriorating weather forecasts later in the day, the following sailings have been cancelled: Depart Ardrossan – 6pm and depart Brodick 4.40pm and 7.20pm.

"The service is likely to resume with the 7am from Ardrossan on Wednesday, March 27.

"All remaining sailings are liable to cancellation or disruption at short notice."
