A lorry driver was taken to hospital in March 2009 after his vehicle crashed into a house in Barrmill near Beith. Thankfully, no one in the house was hurt but the driver was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital after he sustained minor injuries.

Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald: Dasher

Victims and survivors of the HMS Dasher tragedy off Ardrossan’s coast in 1943 were remembered at the annual memorial service in Ardrossan in March 2009. Robert Powell, an 86-year-old Dasher survivor, pictured, flew all the way from New Zealand to pay his respects.

Stanley Primary pupils and head teacher James Hughes welcomed Brenda Johnstone, community fundraiser for Marie Curie Cancer Care to their Easter Assembly in 2009 and presented her with a cheque for a fantastic £2,569.27.

P7 pupils at St Anthony’s in Saltcoats held a bring and buy sale to raise money for SCIES - Scottish Catholic International Exercise Scotland – in March 2009.

Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald: Glencairn Prim,ary's successful athletics team in 2009

Glencairn Primary School’s athletics team has been very busy March 2009. The Stevenston youngsters came second in the North Ayrshire Sports Hall Competition and then went on to compete in the West of Scotland Sports Hall Competition and came sixth. They are pictured with coaches Tamsen Collins and Lorna Williamson.
