TWO affordable housing developments in the Garnock Valley are nearing completion.

It comes after Cumnock-based company Connect Modular provided an update on two seven-house sites in Laburnum Avenue in Beith and Newhouse Drive in Kilbirnie.

Connect Modular, which is part of The Wee House Company, only began work in February though  say that first six houses of the project, which are on sites previously occupied by blocks of flats, have successfully been delivered.

This is the third development that the company has worked on for North Ayrshire Council in recent years.

The project is one which has generated plenty of interest in the local area, particularly with students at Kilbirnie's St Bridget's Primary School which neighbours Newhouse Drive.

Pupils have been watching on from the playground in amazement as work is carried out on the Garnock Valley site.

Colleagues from Connect Modular’s marketing team have also delivered a presentation for pupils at their school assembly covering topics including modular construction, health and safety and careers in construction.

The team also launched a writing competition for pupils and invited the winners to recite their poetry at the official sod-cutting event for development.

Successful pupils visited the site this month for the event and got the opportunity to get even closer to the development.
