Here's a naval blast from the past, showing a mini submarine docked at Ardrossan Harbour during the 1950s.
The picture was posted by Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald Camera Club member Alan Pettigrew on Tuesday, April 2.
It is believed naval subs regularly visited the harbour during World War 2, but this pic seems to be of a later vintage.
Several members of our Camera Club group said they clearly remembered the submarine's visit.
Ann Wilson said: "I remember getting shown round the sub. My father, Paddy Wilson, got some crew member to show me round. Would not have liked to spend a lot of time on it. Not a lot of room."
And John Warnock commented: "Remember; never thought I would see a photo. Tight it was, even for a youngster. No room to swing a flea.
"Don't remember the exact year; I would be just over 6. It made me sure I would never join the Navy."
