A SECTION of one of the busiest commuter roads in North Ayrshire is to be subject to part-day closures later this month.
The A737 between the Manrahead Roundabout and Glebe Road in Beith will be closed overnight for a week to allow for essential resurfacing work to take place.
Temporary traffic lights will also be in place at either end of the works during hours out with closure.
Work will begin on Sunday, April 28, and conclude on Saturday, May 4. The closure will be in place between the hours of 9pm and 6am each night however, there will be no closure on Wednesday, May 1.
Amey, who are carrying out the work on behalf of Transport Scotland, say the scheme scheme will benefit around 11,300 vehicles using this route each day.
The road is one of the main commuter routes for drivers travelling between North Ayrshire and Glasgow - in particular Glasgow Airport.
Amey added that the work will improve the condition of the carriageway and reduce the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
A signed diversion will be in place throughout the duration of the works with road users directed to take the B7049 through Beith, where they will be able to re-join the A737.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
The scheme will have a slight overlap with work further along the A737 with 24-hour traffic management set to be in place at Risk Brae, south of Howwood, throughout the month of May.

All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
