Kids from the Three Towns and Irvine with additional support needs (ASN) have been enjoying specialists discos at the newly reopened Metro nightclub.

The youngsters have enjoyed two dance events in the Saltcoats venue already, with the next one set to take place on May 24.

The ASN Parents & Kids - Irvine & 3 Towns Facebook group have been delighted with the help and support from Steven and Shona at the Metro.

The group's Emma Tricker said: "The first two events were massive hits, so we are going to be doing ASN discos every two months.

"Steven and Shona have been amazing. They even bought a ramp for wheelchair users to join in on the dance floor. His words were, 'why shouldn't they be able to have fun too'.

"It was amazing and heart-warming seeing the wheelchair users at our disco in the Easter holidays.

"Our next ASN disco is on May 24 from 1-3pm. It costs £6 for a child, with free adult then £3 any additional adult. DJ Malkey will be playing."

The ASN Parents & Kids group are now proud sponsors of Ardeer Thistle Boys and are also sponsoring seven girls who are going to Croatia with Dance Depot in Kilwinning.

Emma revealed: "I contacted a few dance schools in the local area as our autistic daughter took an interest in dance basically to be told no one would take her.

"Recently I contacted Tracey McGuire at the Dance Depot in Kilwinning and from the minute I started talking to her, she was amazing.

"She took our daughter to one of her classes and she has now started an ASN music and movement class on a Tuesday night.

"It's been such a big hit that there's now a waiting list for the Tuesday class.

"It's been amazing watching all the kids have fun. And Tracey is amazing too, using visuals  and sensory input. She is just a genuine lovely woman."
