A man is set for trial after being accused of assault and stealing a car in Ardrossan.
David Carroll, 39, listed as a prisoner at HMP Kilmarnock, pleaded not guilty to three charges when he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on May 7.
Carroll is accused of assaulting a man, grabbing hold of him by the body, opening a car door, repeatedly punching him to the head and body and robbing him of the keys to his car in Glasgow Street on January 29 this year.
He is also accused of stealing a motor vehicle as well as perverting the course of justice between February 5 and 9 this year by threatening witnesses with harm should they attend court as witnesses against him.
The court was told that the Procurator Fiscal was waiting on the availability of one witness, but a date for trial was set for July 15.
Carroll was remanded in custody until then.
