A Kilbirnie man has been fined after being aggressive towards police and resisting arrest.

Connor Craig, 30, of Glenriddet Avenue, pleaded guilty to two charges following the incident on February 4.

The charges included shouting, swearing and acting in an aggressive manner towards police, and resisting arrest by tensing his arms and pulling them away to prevent himself being handcuffed.

A sentencing hearing at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court was told how police were contacted at around midnight in response to a report of a disturbance.

Police forced entry to the property several hours later, and Craig resisted arrest, telling police to  "get to f***".

His lawyer told the court that Craig was heavily under the influence of alcohol at the time, and that he took offence when police arrived to speak to him about another matter.

He was fined £580 by Sheriff George Jamieson, with the money to be paid within 35 days.
