Ferry company CalMac has warned foot passengers heading to Arran this weekend to make sure they've pre-booked.

The company says some of its Ardrossan to Brodick sailings were nearly full.

They revealed in a statement today: "We are expecting high volumes of passengers to travel this weekend, with some sailings already close to maximum capacity.

"We strongly advise all foot passengers to make a reservation.

"Passengers with a Rail/Sail ticket, please note this is not a confirmed booking for this service."

However, the company are carrying out extra sailings from Troon Harbour to Brodick today (Friday) - with the same planned for next weekend too.

CalMac said: "An additional return sailing will operate on a trial basis from Troon-Brodick on Fridays May 24 and 31, operated by MV Alfred. As a result, the following timetable will operate.

"Depart Troon 8.30am, arrive Brodick 9.50am; depart Brodick 10.20am, arrive Troon 11.40am; depart Troon 12.45pm (early 1.30pm), arrive Brodick 2.05pm; depart Brodick 2.35pm (early 3.20pm), arrive Troon 3.55pm; depart Troon 4.25pm (additional sailing), arrive Brodick 5,.45pm; depart Brodick 6.15pm (additional sailing), arrive Troon 7.35pm.
