Arran residents and visitors are in for a treat next month when a popular farm event returns to the island.

Bellevue Farm in Blackwaterfoot will feature a fantastic farmers' market and some excellent entertainment inside their weatherproof barn, including a charity pig race.

Bellevue is a working farm which offers tours and events.

This latest summer farm day event is being supported by Arran Eco Savvy and Arran’s Food Journey and will be held on July 14.

The day runs from 11am until 2pm with something for all the family to enjoy. Inside the barn there will be a farmers’ market where locally produced food and crafts are on sale.

There is also space and time to relax and enjoy freshly prepared hot food from the three local food stands.

Entertainment will be provided by Skirl Power Pipes. There will be the chance to take part in a Welly Throwing competition and to see some of the farms animals.

New to Farm Day this year will be a Charity Pig Race. The farm's own live pigs will race over a short course with each pig being sponsored by a local business. The farm conforms to the highest welfare standards so you can be assured that the pigs will be well looked after before, during and after the race.

A spokesperson for the organisers said: "Local, sustainability, knowledge and collaboration are the ley themes of the event.

"It’s a great opportunity to meet, talk and hear about the care and passion our local food and drink producers and crafters put into creating their high-quality product."

Perhaps, most importantly the day is about Arran’s community and visitors having fun.

Entry to Summer Farm Day is free though there is a £2 charge for parking if you choose to drive.
