Garnock Pool celebrated its 40th birthday on Sunday, August 9, 2009 with a massive fun day for all the staff and regular users.
Kind-hearted staff at The Co-operative food store in West Kilbride dug deep to raise money for a local charity. The staff recently raised £337 for North Ayrshire Cancer Care by holding a bric-a-brac stall in the shop in 2009.
Youngsters enjoyed a festival of fun, creativity and exercise on Ardrossan’s South Beach in August 2009. Big on the Beach activities available included podcasts, film and music workshops, Brazilian dance, archery, beach games, West African drumming, and a climbing wall.
Beith cyclist Hugh Murray completed the epic ‘end to end’ cycle ride in August 2009, raising a whopping £3,500 for breast cancer charities.
Hook a duck was a big hit with the kids at the Arran View Care Home’s annual fete in Saltcoats in August 2009.
Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill paid a visit to Ardrossan in August 2009 to see the progress being made by youth projects working to make the community a much safer place to be. He is pictured, second from the right, with young folk at the Three Towns Motor Project, based in Central Avenue.
