Three Towns kids enjoyed Big On The Beach, a 2009 festival of fun, creativity and exercise. The 2009 event was funded by the Irvine Bay Regeneration Company and North Ayrshire Council.

The release of a limited edition single malt was thrown into chaos after its cover star, a peacock called Albert, disappeared from its home at the Arran Distillery in August 2009. The bird was said to be ‘wreaking havoc’, eating flowers in Lochranza gardens.

Irvine Bay’s first ever fun run took place in Ardrossan in August 2009 and was well supported with more than 120 people taking part.

Ardrossan Community Fire Station commander Lawson Elliot gave up his post in August 2009 to become a group commander at Strathclyde Fire and Rescue headquarters in Hamilton. He is pictured wishing new Ardrossan station commander, Mark Gallacher all the best.
