The sun was shining on Saturday morning as a sizeable group of locals and visitors strolled around Saltcoats sharing the exploits of our local legend, Betsy Miller.
The group met at the North Ayrshire Heritage Centre and after a short video presentation about Betsy, Britain's first female sea captain, headed out into the sunshine.
Local councillor Jean McClung was dressed as Betsy would have been back in the first half of the 19th century. Jean and other participants shared knowledge about Betsy and other local details.
The trail took took everyone along the Braes to the Harbourside then back along Quay Street, where Betsy lived, before finishing on Dockhead Street.
The initiative was part of the SeaSalt Streets strategy to improve the town and provide opportunities for community involvement.
A spokesperson said: "Many thanks to the local businesses who publicised the event, particularly Clyde Studios for producing posters, and to North Ayrshire’s Participatory Budgeting scheme for funding."
