Kilbirnie Ladeside players and their families posed for this 2009 photo after defeating Cumnock 3-0 to win the Ardagh Glass League Cup final.
Ardrossan’s Kenneth Weir took part in the 2009 Great North Run in memory of his mum who died the previous. Kenneth was raising awareness of Alzheimers after he lost two of his family members to the disease.

Two heroic lads saved a disabled man’s life when they pulled him from his burning home in September 2009. Nick Fecou of Ardrossan and Justin Hughes of Saltcoats rescued Norman Thomson from his smoke-filled Ardrossan home after Justin jumped into the house through a window with no regard for his own safety. Their bravery was hailed by Ardrossan Fire Station’s watch commander Mark Gallagher.
