THE Met Office is forecasting a mixed weekend for North Ayrshire, with cloud and a spell of rain on Saturday giving way to sunnier conditions on Sunday.

Saturday will begin under overcast skies, with temperatures around 9°C.

Cloud is expected to dominate throughout the day, while a spell of light rain is forecast during the late morning.

Temperatures will reach around 10°C before gradually falling back through the evening.

Despite the rain, winds will remain fairly light, generally between 6mph and 14mph.

The outlook improves on Sunday.

After a cloudy start, sunny intervals are expected to develop from the morning and continue for much of the day, bringing brighter conditions across North Ayrshire.

Temperatures will climb to a high of around 11°C during the afternoon before easing back into the evening.

Rain is not expected to be a major feature on Sunday, with only a very low chance of showers for most of the day.

Light winds of between 5mph and 12mph will keep conditions feeling relatively calm.

By Sunday evening, skies are forecast to become partly cloudy, with temperatures dropping to around 7°C.
