DEFIANT Killie boss Lee Clark is confident his side can beat the drop, despite losing out in a close contest at Tynecastle on Saturday.

An early goal from Jamie Walker following a penalty save by heroic goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald left Killie just eight points clear of basement team Dundee United, who have a game in hand and two adrift of third bottom Hamilton Accies.

Clark told the media after the match: "I'm disappointed we didn't take anything from the game. We put them under pressure without testing their goalkeeper enough. We're frustrated with how we conceded the first penalty. "

However he feels his team can survive and added: "There is definitely enough here and we just have to believe we have got enough."

Back to the action and the Jambos opened strongly. In eight minutes Alim Ozturk found Prince Buaben, who was fouled inside the box with referee Don Robertson awarding a penalty-kick. Walker's spot kick effort was parried by MacDonald, but the same player drove home the rebound.

Killie were unlucky on the half hour when Conrad Balatoni's effort was cleared off the line by Callum Paterson.

The visitors had lot of the ball after the break, with Greg Kiltie pulling the strings. And Tope Obadeyi and Lee Magennis both missed chances.

Ten minutes from time Hearts were awarded a second penalty following a handball by Magennis. However MacDonald palmed away Abiola Dauda's effort.
