ARDROSSAN CASTLE ROVERS 2
CASTLE kept in contention for promotion with a hard-fought win against the former Premier Division champions.
But they could have won much more easily, after missing a barrowload of chances.
Castle took the lead in 10 minutes when Iain Fraser used his experience to beat a defender and bend the ball past the home goalie. The second goal came from Marc Farrell who thundered home a quick free-kick from just outside the box.
Man-of-the-match, sponsored by Spicy Hut in Ardrossan was David McLeod.
Rovers have four games remaining and next host Three Towns rivals Ardeer at St Matthew's Academy tonight (Wednesday).
ARDROSSAN CR: Pollock; Smith, Houston, Davidson, Morgan, Breen, Arthur, McLeod, Higgins, Farrell, Fraser. Subs: Coyle, Dunlop, Beveridge, Moore, McBreen.
