NORTH Ayrshire Table Tennis Club (NATTC) members Chad Duncan, Jamie Johnson, Patric Hollywood and Jess Hogg recently represented Scotland at The British Primary Schools Championships in Cardiff.

Remarkably, half of the eight players selected to represent Scotland were from NATTC.

Chad, Patric and Jamie teamed up with Aberdeen's Dylan Thies in the team event where the boys finished in fourth place, beating Isle of Man and Guernsey and just missing out on a bronze medal after a marathon match against the home team Wales, where Scotland narrowly lost out 6-4.

As we revealed last week, West Kilbride's Jess won a bronze medal in the Girls Team Event alongside team mates Willow Shek (Aberdeen), Amelia Smolarek (Glasgow) and Shannon Brown (Dumfries).

Meanwhile the Scottish National League 2016-17 was concluded at St Matthew's Academy where the last two decisive matches in all four divisions were played.

North Ayrshire Table Tennis Club's Division Two team of Andy Macpherson, Chris Barclay and Martin Johnson who won Division Three last season, were sitting in second place going into the last round of matches with promotion to the top league in Scotland within touching distance.

Playing at their home club venue, Andy, Chris and Martin overcame the challenges and pressure that was presented to them and completed their season with 4-2 victories over North Merchiston (Edinburgh) and Glasgow South A to gain promotion and to be crowned National League Division Two Champions. Martin Johnson won all four of his matches to complete an impressive season unbeaten season.

To top this off, North Ayrshire will be the only club to have two teams in Division 1 next season after NATTC's top team finished in 3rd place with a 6-0 win over Drumchapel B and a 3-3 draw with Division One winners Drumchapel. This result shows the quality of players the club is producing and the professional approach our players and coaches bring to the table on a weekly basis.

North Ayrshire TTC are delighted to add more qualified coaches to their already growing coaching team with five new UKCC Level 1 coaches and 3 new UKCC Level 2 coaches. Joshua Griffiths, Kayser Collins, Robin Wilson and Owen Wilson who are all S5/S6 pupils at St Matthews Academy and Greenwood Academy recently completed their level 1 course alongside Arran resident Gordon Provan, with whom North Ayrshire TTC will be working with to grow table tennis on the Isle of Arran in the coming months.

St Matthew's Academy pupils Joshua and Kayser have been volunteering with Active Schools on weekly basis delivering table tennis sessions in their own school and local primary schools to pupils during their lunch break and after school.

Richard Main, Andy Macpherson and Jill Taylor passed their UKCC Level 2 course in a professional fashion and are all heavily involved in delivering a range of coaching through our successful junior development programme.

Richard is delivering new sessions at West Kilbride Community Centre every Friday and is open to anyone of any age and ability, from 7-8pm for seniors and 8-9pm for juniors.

NATTC run classes a d sessions five nights a week across North Ayrshire and operate a vast majority of their classes at their club venue, St Matthew's Academy.

Monday Night table tennis is on weekly, from 7pm until 9pm which will see a range of ages and levels turn up to play.
