REVENGE will be the spur for Beith Juniors striker Keir Milliken tonight (Wednesday).

The Mighty host the experienced marksman’s former club Auchinleck Talbot in the West Region Sectional League Cup semi-final.

And he has bitter memories of the last time the teams met.

“We played near the end of season at Bellsdale Park and they hammered us 5-0 so you could say me owe them one. That was a disappointing result. We had our first league win at Rutherglen on Saturday and now we have a big incentive to reach the first cup final of the season.

“The guys will be well up for it, “ he said.

Meanwhile Ardrossan Winton Rovers boss Stevie Wilson has hit out at fixture scheduling which saw his side travel to Girvan last Wednesday for a League One game won 4-2 by the hosts.

He said: “It’s crazy sending us to Girvan for a 6.30pm kick off. I was working as were players and most of us only got there about 10 minutes before kick-off. We didn’t even have time for a warm-up although I’m not making excuses about the result. Would it not have made more sense to send us to Greenock or Port Glasgow, that’s closer for us. I asked for the kick-off to be delayed but the ref wasn’t having it.”

However, Wilson said his team’s weekend performance topped the lot. They defeated former table toppers Carluke Rovers 5-2 to rack up a second successive home win.

He said: “The football we played is among the best of the season and we have a good squad.

“Some good young players from the youth team have been helping us out and that’s the way we have to go. We got to Port Glasgow on Saturday and it will be a difficult but w e are looking for three points.”
