FAST-rising Ardrossan teenage footballer Billy Gilmour has been rewarded with an impressive new deal at Premiership giants Chelsea FC.

 

The 18-year-old, who made his first team debut last month monumental month. was handed a brand new four-year contract by the Stamford Bridge giants.

 

Scotland Under-21 star Billy, who swapped Rangers ' youth set-up for Chelsea two years ago, has flourished under Frank Lampard's guidance this season.

 

Gilmour made his Premier League debut 12 days ago when he came on as a second-half substitute for Tammy Abraham against Sheffield United.

 

He was then selected for Lampard's Champions League squad.

 

A delighted Gilmour said: "It’s really exciting for me and my family to sign this four-year deal with the club.

 

"Frank has come in and everyone is buzzing, training is really good and there’s a high standard to everything we do.

 

"There are exciting times ahead and hopefully I can work hard to get more opportunities as well."

 

Manager Lampard rates Gilmour highly and has included him on his B list for Europe’s premier club tournament which gets underway later this month.

 

He joins Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Reece James, Jamie Cumming, Marc Guehi and George McEachran on the list.

Famous Scots at Stamford Bridge include now Scotland boss Steve Clarke, fellow Ayrshireman Craig Burley, who hails from New Cumnock, Tom Boyd and Robert Fleck.
